lost

Hi my name is Courtney, I am 15 years old, and I lost my mum and dad when I
was 10 in a house fire. I have relatives which I can’t live with because they
want custody of me and don’t want anything to do with me.

Now that I have no house and no one to look after me, I am living on the
streets. Everyday I’m looking for food and water in order to survive. I also
have to look for shelter to sleep under. I have no blankets to keep me warm in
the cold weather at night, also having to sleep on the cold, hard and
sometimes wet concrete. The weather was always dull and not a bit of sun I
could see.
On weekends parents take their kids out shopping. As they walk past me and
stop and stare at me for a few seconds, then walk away. I just wish that
someday soon, my mum and dad will come back for me. Sometimes I see my mum and dad standing in front of me smiling.

One afternoon, a man had seen me from a distance and put his hand in his
pocket. He grabbed out a $20 bill, walked up to me a handed it to me. I got up
and rushed to the closest store to me, to go get food, and other supplies to
help me survive. It was so nice to have a few things back that I needed in a
long time.

I walked into a store, and the manager there asked if I wanted a job, not knowing I was homeless. I said yes because I really needed the money to have a house. She had told me I would get paid $10.00 an hour. Even though it’s not much, I’m still happy for this job.

After about 3 years and a half I was able to go to university and study for exams. In the process I had gotten a better job and earned more money than my last job. Every year I earn around $25,00 in total.

As soon as I got to university, I met my teacher, and she asked a girl to show me around. When she showed me around the building, we had a good convocation, and turned out to have lots in common. We hanged out lots and caught up with each other. 8 months later we had gotten much closer and she asked me if she would like to share a rent together and be roomates. I thought to myself if this was real or if she was playing a joke on me. She stood there looking at me confused waiting for an answer. She asked why I was wearing old filthy cloths. I didn’t reply.

She asked me if I would like to come see the house. I nodded my head without saying a word. When we entered the house, I was shocked how nice it  looked. We sat down on the couch to have a chat. She told me to be honest with each other, and asked me again why I wear old filthy cloths. I explained to her everything shyly. She apologized for the things I had gone through. After everything I had told her, I decided to say yes to live with her.

Robogals incursion reflection 2015

Today on the 10th of December we had an in incursion just for girls called robogals. Robogals  is all about engineering.

We first got told what engineering is. There is different types of engineering jobs. There is Civil, Biomedical, structural, Mechatronics and cant remember the other ones.

For most of the session we were exploring Mechatronics, and worked on a robot that moves in different directions that we can control. We had computers where we could choose what direction we wanted the robot to go to.

Overall it was fun trying something new. I liked watching the robot move different ways.

Buddie exursion reflection- Botanic gardens 2015

Today on the 9th of December the year 5/6’s and the prep buddies went on an excursion to the Royal Botanic gardens.

When we got to the botanic gardens we had booklets given to us that we had to write in with our buddies about the different senses of what we could see, hear, smell and feel.  We started off by going to the lake to get information to write in our booklets. The things we could see were trees, plants, ducks, green things, a tower in the distance, the lake (of course) and a canoe/boat. The things that we could hear were ducks and peoples voices. What we could smell was different kinds of plants and fresh water and air. And lastly for feel, we could feel the rough and spiky grass, and the wind hitting us.

Also whilst we were at the lake we had to fill in a table that were in our booklets. We had to see how many black swans we could see, how many black ducks we could see, how many Eurasian Coots we could see, how many Dusky Moorhens we could see and how many Eels we could see.

We then sat down all together to eat recess before moving on to the next place, we went to the herb garden. The herb garden was full of different plants that have different sents. For the booklets we had to do the same thing like we did at the lake. What we saw was lots of plants, trees, flowers and flies and bugs. We could hear lots of voices and foot steps on the brick ground. We could smell different types of plants such as mint leaves, lemon verbena leaves and pineapple sage leaves. And for feel, we could feel flowers such as the petals which were silky and soft. And also smooth and fuzzy purple flowers.

The last stop we went to was the fern gully. And once again we did another what we could see, hear, smell and feel. We could see lots of trees surrounding us, and we also saw lots of different plants again. We could hear water splashing and birds chirping. We could smell the same things as all the other smells, and we felt soft and smooth tree branches.

After exploring around we went to a nice spot to each our lunch altogether again like we did at recess. We played some games with all the grade 5/6’s and prep buddies. we sat in a really big circle and played duck duck goose. It was so fun to see all the preps having fun and enjoying their day. After duck duck goose we played one more game together which was toilet tigy.

After lunch and playing some games we got on the bus back to school. Over all it was a fun day out with our prep buddies.

SEPEP reflection 2015

This year for the sports program we did SEPEP (soccer.) We got into different teams that we had to name to represent our groups. We also had to choose a colour that we wanted our group to be, and that every week for the sport session, we would have to be dressed in cloths that where the colour of the group we chose. My groups colour was green, and our name was ‘the green gliders’. The rest of the groups colour and names where, the teenage ninja turtles (dark green), the yellow pixels (yellow), black comics (black), the purple Vikings ( purple), The annoying oranges (orange) and the white and black bears (white and black.)

We run this sport program for kids to corporate with new people and to have fun and enjoy playing a new sport that they maybe haven’t played before.

3 facts I found interesting/surprising:

Something that surprised me during this sport program was that everyone was optimistic with something they haven’t tried before, and that they worked really well as a team.

Another thing that surprised me was that others helped each other when they were hurt or needed help to set up for the session.

One last thing that surprised me was if a team lost a game, they would still be happy for the other teams and not worrying about loosing.

2 understandings I now have:

Something I now understand is to give something a go that I don’t really like, or don’t know how to do or don’t want to do it.

Another thing I now understand is to just have fun and not worry about loosing.

1 wonder I still have:

(Dont have a wonder.)

Throughout this unit, something my team and I could of done better was to be focused on the ball when it was coming and to help each other out, by shouting out names and giving eye contact.

The most important thing I learnt was the optimistic thing. Its important to be optimistic by having a go at something new, that you might not like or have done before, or not sure how to do it. I learnt this by having a go and having fun. And in the end I loved it. What I will do with what I have learnt is to try new things that isn’t just sport and see how fun it really is.

Something I have experienced throughout the first weeks of SEPEP to the last weeks of SEPEP is that, at the start I dint know how to play soccer and that I was nerves to, but in the kast weeks of it I wasn’t nerves any more and that I gradually go better at it each week.

To conclude, having a go at something you haven’t tried before and don’t really want to do is really important because you will end up liking it and want to do it more.

100wc week #9

                                            Red

Why do people think that red is such a bad and boring colour. Well, it’s not. A heart is red, a paint can be red, there is lots of things in the world that is red. So dont make judgmeants that I am a bad colour, because im not a bad colour. One day poeple are going to say green is a stupid colour, and that pink is babyish, and that orange is a ugly. Just think twice before saying things cause it can really hurt someone. You dont have to like someone or something, but if you think saying something will hurt someome, just dont say it.

100wc week #8

It was a cold wet and rainy day. I was walking home from school wearing my gumboots, raincoat, beanie and gloves. I had my earphones plugged into my phone listening to loud music not worrying about anything else. In the distance I saw a bunch of kids crowding around looking down at something.  I was concerned what was going on, so I went over to have a look. I bent to look over someone’s shoulder, and there I saw a skeleton body. It was half dug under mud. I had thought to myself why it was there and how long it had been there for.

Prompt:

Skeleton

100wc week #7

Do you have a little sister who is so connected to her favourite doll? I do. One day I was looking after my little sister whilst our mum and dad were out.  We were sitting in the t.v room watching t.v. I was sitting on the couch on my laptop watching my little sister playing with her favourite doll and staring at the t.v. She had told me she was going to go to get a snack. As she stood up she had stepped on her dolls head and squished it flat. When she looked down and saw it was broken she started crying. I tried to get her to calm down but She just wouldn’t stop crying.

100wc week #6

                                            it felt like

Listen to me read my story:

Everyday at school I have no one to talk to. I sit against a brick wall alone eating my lunch watching everyone else having fun with their friends and having a laugh. People sometimes come up to me calling be a looser because I have no one with me, until one day a girl had the same problem as I did. One lunch time the girl came up to me asking if she could talk to me and be her friend. And of course I said yes. Having someone beside me, it felt like I had always had someone.

School Holiday Reflection

On the last Friday of the school holidays (the 2nd of October,) I went to North lands for the day with my best friend Angelica.  We went to the movies to see a new scary movie call ‘the visit’. In the middle of the movie we regretted to sit so close to the screen, but we somehow managed  the whole movie.

After the movie finished, we went shopping. We went into sports girl, valley girl, Supre and more. We both bought something each, and then just looked around shops.

After shopping for a little while we went to get some lunch. We went into Schnitz, which has really good schnitzel  and chips.

After we finished our lunch we went back to Angelica’s house. I unfortunately didn’t get to sleep over, but I did get to stay over for dinner.  While me and Angelica were waiting for dinner, we went outside to enjoy the sun. For dinner we had chicken with a side of roast potatoes and carrots. ( it was really good.)

After dinner I sadly had to go home. When we got back to my house me and Angelica begged my mum if Angelica could stay at my house for the night, so that Angelica could come to highpoint with me the next day, but she couldn’t. But we were still happy enough to see eachother for the whole day.
